Luiss University Press, our valued client, solicited our creativity for the creation of animated videos inspired by their essays. In this context, the artist Hogre approached us with a proposal of extraordinary visual poignancy for one of the titles in particular: β€œSurveillance Capitalism” by Soshana Zuboff. This work, which has now become a milestone for scholars of the Internet and new media of our time, offers fertile ground for artistic inspiration and intellectual reflection. In this extraordinary animated video, the journey into the heart of surveillance capitalism of two characters as they immerse themselves in a seemingly innocuous online conversation comes to life. The veil of normalcy quickly dissolves when their virtual world is invaded by invisible tentacles of data-hungry tech giants. The video offers an incisive look at the pervasive intrusion into our digital space, bringing Zuboff’s visionary analysis to life through Hogre’s animated art. It is a visual experience that grips the viewer, inviting them to reflect on the price we pay for digital connectedness and our growing dependence on a capitalism that feeds on our surveillance.
